My name is David P Griffin, I am a documentary filmmaker and
my current project is a documentary on land rights and deed restrictions.
The Pyramid Corporation developed many neighborhoods West of the Colorado River
in the 1940’s. And I have taken an interest in the area and the clash
of the old residences and the new.
I would like to sit down on camera with you to disgust your experiences. I would
be most interested in looking at outcomes of situations, and how they were resolved?
Are the deed restrictions enforceable?
Yes, I understand who does the enforcing. A neighborhood Association or any
individual property owner.
So, the question is, if someone goes through the court system will the deed restrictions be binding?
And what action the courts have taken
to resolve these differences?
I have heard that the deed restrictions will be upheld and often times the court will have the violator to have the building torn down and removed from the property?
Is it common to settle these cases out of court?
Just what are your rights as a landowner in Travis County?
If a landowner has been in violating of the deed restrictions for over twenty
years does that make it right?
As you can see there are many angles and twists and turns along the way; and
I feel it will make a fascinating documentary. I feel such a show maybe able
to help the common man with no idea where to turn. Which is the point of my
documentary.
I hope that you will share your experiences with us and be willing to participate
in this documentary. I will be offering this to CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS and then
running it on public access TV.
